Map in splendid and charming colouring of the period taken from the rare English edition of the famous "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum" of A. Ortelio. Only 250 copies were printed of this edition in 1606, The difference between this edition of the Ortelian "Theatrum" and others is that the plates of the atlas were first printed in Antwerp and then the English text was added in London by J. Norton and J. Bill.A particularly rare and sought after edition in superb contemporary colouring, from which we have several maps of the regions of Italy in addition to the maps in the catalogue.
